Escalating Infection Rates and Demographics
In the last 24 hours alone, 872 people developed symptoms consistent with measles, while 107 new cases were laboratory-confirmed. Since tracking began on March 15, Bangladesh has recorded:
-
138,184 total suspected measles cases
-
17,385 confirmed measles infections
While routine statistics provided by the DGHS do not include detailed age-specific mortality data, epidemiologists stress that although people of all age groups are susceptible to measles, children face the highest risk of infection and severe complications.
Hospitalization and Recovery Metrics
Healthcare facilities across the country have managed a significant influx of patients since mid-March. A total of 119,322 patients exhibiting symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide during this period.
On a positive note, treatment outcomes remain high, with 115,139 patients having recovered fully and been discharged.
Health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to contain further spread and manage symptomatic patients across regional health hubs.
