Political Report: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is not able to return home from the hospital right now. She will have to stay in the Evercare hospital for a few more days. Khaleda Zia’s personal doctor said this on Sunday (27 August).
He said that Khaleda Zia was not yet in a physical condition to be taken home.
On August 9, the BNP Chairperson was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital for a health check-up. Since then, she has been under treatment there.
Her personal doctors still think that she needs to be kept under close observation in the hospital. That’s why she has to stay in the hospital for a few more days. However, the doctors are not able to say anything specific about how many days to stay in the hospital.
Earlier, on the night of June 13, the former prime minister was admitted to Evercare Hospital after suddenly falling ill. He returned home after five days at that time.
Khaleda Zia’s angiogram in June last year revealed three blocks in her heart. Then a ring is put on one.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been suffering from arthritis, diabetes, kidney, liver, and heart disease. The doctors of the medical board said that he suffered from bleeding in his digestive system and cirrhosis of the liver.
Khaleda Zia was taken to prison on February 8, 2018, after being sentenced in a corruption case. In March 2020, the government suspended the sentence of the former prime minister for 6 months on a few conditions in view of the family’s request when the outbreak of coronavirus occurred in the country.
Since then, he has been living in a rented house in Gulshan. The government is extending his release period every 6 months.
