Gopalganj Correspondent: A dead body of a man named Ferdous Sheikh (45) was recovered from a restaurant called Pitha Garden in Gopalganj.
The incident took place on Wednesday (November 27) afternoon. Ferdous hailed from the Pakurtia area of the Tungipara upazila.
According to the police, on Tuesday, Ferdous arrived at Pitha Garden Restaurant, located along the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the Patalia area of Gopalganj district, with a woman.
Although the restaurant is primarily a dining establishment, it offers overnight accommodations. The two spent the night there.
On Wednesday, it was expected that they would check out of their room, but by the afternoon, the restaurant staff became concerned when they couldn’t locate them.
Upon checking the room, they discovered Ferdous’s lifeless body. The restaurant authorities also reported that the woman had fled before they found the body.
Ferdous’s brother, Mizanur Rahman Mizu, claimed that his brother had been murdered.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, Mir Sazedur Rahman, stated that an investigation is underway. The body has been sent to Gopalganj General Hospital for an autopsy.
There are also allegations that the restaurant was involved in illegal activities, including running a prostitution racket under the guise of a food establishment.
