Border Bangladesh: Youth killed in BSF firing

Local correspondent: A Bangladeshi youth was killed in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Chakpara border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainwabganj. The murder took place on Tuesday night on the border of Chakpara Unisbighi of Shahbazpur Union.

The deceased youth is Bablu Haque (36), son of Hussain Ali of Babupur Madhyapada village of Panka Union, Shibganj upazila. His relatives said that Bablu was mentally unstable.

It is reported that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has taken possession of Bablu’s body. Sajibul Haq, the brother of the deceased, said that on Tuesday afternoon, Bablu left the house and did not return. He was shot dead in the Chakpada border area at around 9 pm.

Shahbazpur Union Council President Nizamul Haque Rana said that a jawan was killed in the firing on the border. The body was taken into custody by the BSF. The family has been asked to contact BBG.

Chapainwabganj 59 BGB Battalion Capt. Lt. Colonel Golam Kibria said, we have heard about the death of a Bangladeshi national on the other side of the Chakpara border. The body is in India. He said that BSF will be contacted in this regard.
