Health Report: The number of deaths due to dengue fever is on the rise in the country. In the past 24 hours alone, an additional 17 people have succumbed to the disease across the nation.
Over the last nine months, dengue-related deaths have exceeded a staggering one thousand. The total death toll has now reached one thousand six hundred.
Furthermore, within the last 24 hours, two thousand eight hundred eighty-two new dengue patients have been admitted to various government and private hospitals across the country.
According to the Ministry of Health, from Saturday morning (September 30) at 8 AM to Sunday morning at 8 AM, a total of two thousand eight hundred eighty-two people were admitted to hospitals with dengue across the country.
Among them, 629 are residents of Dhaka, while 2,253 come from outside the city. Among the 17 people who died in the last 24 hours, nine were residents of Dhaka, and eight were from outside the city.
From January 1st of the current year until October 1st, there have been a total of two hundred sixty-six thousand two hundred eighty-eight dengue cases in the country.
Among them, 83,851 are residents of Dhaka, while 122,437 have been admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka.
At the same time, one hundred ninety-five thousand nine hundred twenty-five people have been discharged from hospitals after receiving treatment. Among them, 80,883 are residents of Dhaka, and 115,842 are from outside the city.
Currently, there are 3,357 dengue patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the country. Among them, 3,120 are in Dhaka, and 237 are outside the city.
In 2022, a total of 281 people died from dengue fever. In the last month of that year, December, 27 people lost their lives due to dengue. During the same year, 623,382 people were admitted to hospitals due to dengue.
Although dengue transmission was not as prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, in 2021, a total of 28,429 people were affected by dengue across the country. In the same year, 105 deaths were reported nationwide due to dengue.
