Measles Symptoms Claim 7 More Children’s Lives Across Bangladesh

Health Desk – In the last 24 hours, seven more children have died from symptoms related to measles across the country. Additionally, 887 new cases exhibiting measles and its symptoms have been reported during this period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the data in its regular measles update on Saturday.

According to the DGHS, Dhaka division recorded six deaths from measles symptoms in the past day, while Barishal division reported one death.

With these latest casualties, the national death toll from measles and its symptoms has reached 677 since March 15.

Meanwhile, 80 new measles cases were officially confirmed nationwide in the last 24 hours, while another 807 individuals showed symptoms of the disease.

This brings the total number of symptomatic cases to 91,789 and confirmed cases to 10,949 since March 15.

The DGHS report further revealed that a total of 75,902 patients have been admitted to hospitals with measles and related symptoms since March 15.

Among them, 71,970 patients have successfully recovered and been discharged so far.
