Desk Report – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a weather alert for 13 districts, forecasting temporary gusty winds and thunderstorms by this evening.
According to the inland river port warning valid from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM on Monday, storm speeds could reach up to 80 kmph in five regions.
High-Intensity Storms (60–80 kmph):
Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary north-westerly/westerly gale-force winds (60–80 kmph) are likely to lash across Rangpur, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, and Sylhet. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Riverine Warning Signal No. 2.
Moderate Storms (45–60 kmph):
Meanwhile, regions including Dhaka, Madaripur, Faridpur, Cumilla, Noakhali, Barishal, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar may experience winds between 45–60 kmph. River ports in these districts are instructed to hoist Cautionary Signal No. 1.
Residents and river vessel operators in the affected districts are urged to take necessary precautions as the weather remains volatile throughout the day.
