Crime Report: The teacher of Bashundhara branch of Vikarunnisa Noon School and College has been suspended by the school authorities for allegedly sexually harassing a student.
Principal (Acting) Keka Roy Chowdhury of Vikarunnisa Noon School and College confirmed the matter on Wednesday (September 6) at 10 pm.
According to school sources, on Wednesday night, in an emergency meeting of the governing body of the school, it was decided to temporarily expel the accused teacher.
Accused Abu Sufian has been expelled in light of the recommendations of the inquiry committee. His expulsion will come into effect from tomorrow, Thursday.
According to the source, the accused has been temporarily suspended after checking the preliminary facts in the investigation report.
After reviewing the full investigation report next Saturday, a permanent expulsion decision may be taken against him. Besides, all the committees related to bullying and sexual harassment in the school are asked to be more active.
It is known that teacher Abu Sufian has sexually harassed a student of class 9. On August 27, the girl’s father filed a written complaint with the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, the commissioner assigned the investigation to Assistant Commissioner Al Amin Halder on August 31. Then on September 2 (Saturday), the investigation officer took the statement of 10 teachers of Bashundhara branch, head of the branch, principal of the institution. Then on Tuesday, the committee accepted the victim’s statement.
