Shakib Al Hasan’s Conditions Rejected by BCB

Sports Desk: Shakib Al Hasan has failed to reach a successful agreement with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) despite negotiations.

The star all-rounder had requested three main conditions: the freedom to play domestically in Bangladesh, the release of his bank accounts, and guarantees for returning to the country and traveling abroad.

He had asked the BCB to persuade the government for approval on these issues.

However, as the BCB was unable to resolve these matters, Shakib will not be part of the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies.

The squad has been approved without him, signaling the likely end of his international career.

Shakib’s return to Bangladesh has become complicated due to his position as a Member of Parliament for the ruling Awami League.

He is also a defendant in a murder case with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Furthermore, he was fined 5 million taka for alleged involvement in share market manipulation.

Recently, Bangladesh Bank froze both Shakib’s and his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir’s bank accounts to prevent money laundering, which has created issues for him in managing expenses abroad.

A BCB official revealed that Shakib had requested the president to at least allow his bank transactions to return to normal and provide him an opportunity to play in Bangladesh.

However, it became clear to Shakib that the BCB could not resolve these issues, which are beyond their control.

Although some may question the BCB president’s statement, it is clear that Shakib has continued his international career while playing in foreign leagues and rarely participating in national team training. Currently, Shakib is playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

While there are no concerns about his fitness or batting preparations, the main issue remains that the BCB cannot meet Shakib’s conditions.

Given this, it seems unlikely that he will play for the national team again, with his last international match possibly already behind him, against India.
